St. Xavier’s Sr. Secondary School Bhilai, is an unaided, minority run, co-educational English medium School, and has classes from Nursery upto class XII. The school was established in 1990 and is being run by the Raipur diocese Educational Society.

St. Xavier’s School came into existence in 1st May 1990. Then the parish priest Rev. Fr. Philip Rajamanikyam Started the Classes- Nursery and KG 1 with 16 children. The presbytery and guest rooms were used as the class rooms In 1992 June 10th Rev. Fr. Sebastian C J was appointed as the Manager and Principal of the school. The construction of the present building was also started by him. The new school building was inaugurated by Sri. G. Upadhyay, the G. M of BSP and blessed by his Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Augustine on 22nd October 1995. On 19th October 2001 our school got recognition for class 10th from C G Education Board office Raipur and for class XII in the year 2004. In 2017, our school is affiliated to C.B.S.E. New Delhi.

To bring our school up to the present situation, the Manager of our school Rev. Fr. Joseph V P has worked a lot with the help and consultation of Vidya Jyoti Samiti., like the extension of third floor, labs for each separate subject, installation of CCTV cameras, smart classes for each section and new fire system.

The year 2018-19 is a milestone in the history of St. Xavier’s Sr. Secondary School Bhilai. It is a year with its share of triumphs and achievements, joy and laughter, times of defeat and moments of pride.        A long cherished dream was materialized by getting the affiliation from Central Board of Secondary Education Delhi. The door was opened for our students to the Globalization and to the new Educational Scenario of the Country through CBSE. The first batch of class X and XII of the school is going to appear for the CBSE board Examination in the year 2019. At the Sr. Secondary level it offers two streams, namely- Mathematics and Commerce. We aim the total development of students. Presently there are 510 students, 26 teaching and 3 non teaching staff members. We emphasize that our children should come up with discipline along with academic studies and activities, so that, by the time, they come out from the school they would be able to choose their right career. In order to make the teaching-learning process effective and interesting, here we use various audio- visual methods and equipments such as computers, Next education system and smart class equipments, which consist of science Lab, Mathematics Lab and Language Lab.

We are proud of our teachers who are well qualified, highly talented, deeply committed and have vast experience. Every year we organize seminars for teachers, to widen the horizons of their knowledge.

In order to impart a sound holistic education to the children a Plethora of cultural, literary, sports and art activities are organized during the entire session to develop their potentialities. Several inter house competitions are conducted in all the four houses to foster a spirit of healthy competition among the students and teacher in charges. A good number of our students participate every year in various inter-school competitions conducted by BSP and also their talents make them reach till the state level.

Special assemblies on various occasions like Earth day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Teacher’s day, Senior Citizen’s day, World population day, Unity Day are held to inculcate social, ethical and cultural values of the Children.

Contribution towards environment protection

  • The Rain water harvesting system has been incorporated in the school campus for the conservation of the running water during the rainy season. It also serves the purpose of educating and making the students aware in this regard.
  • The waste from the school is regularly sent through the junk dealer for recycling. Care is taken that waste does not get accumulated in the school campus.
  • The school is using LED lights and latest electronic equipments to save energy.
  • Plantation and gardening has been done in the school campus to make the school environment look and feel more pleasant and soothing.
  • Regular Seminars, Exhibitions and Workshops on environment and cleanliness are being organized in the school so as to make students and parents aware about the importance of environment and cleanliness.

Thus, the schools is trying to work upon maximum norms put forth by the CBSE and keep itself updated. Sincere efforts are also being made by the authorities to impart sound knowledge and develop students’ potentialities so that they outshine in all the walks of life in future.
